is it really just junk?

What are you doing with your junk (aka plastic bottles, caps, styrofoam, etc)? Are you recycling? Just trashing it? Turning it into art?

A couple guys in association with the Algalita Marine Research Foundation launched an unusual campaign to bring attention to the problem of junk in the ocean. Plastic is polluting our seas and affecting wildlife and causing ecological impacts. So, what are these guys doing? They're sailing from Southern CA to Hawaii on a boat made out of 15,000 plastic bottles. It's their way of shouting out loud, take notice people! Out of sight, out of mind no longer. We need for people to begin paying attention, before our oceans turn to plastic soup.

Go check out the Junk Blog. You can even track their sailing progress.
